Modern city life may be full of stress and worries, and Estonia is the ideal destination for any traveler who desires to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and walk in the peace of nature. With blue skies, white clouds and a refreshing breeze, now is a great time to go camping in Estonia.

There are more than a dozen hiking trails that allow you to follow the banks of rivers and lakes, traverse forests and wetlands, and have an intimate embrace with nature. The many trails offer something for every hiker, where you can rest and relax, take in the scenery and enjoy a good meal.

Estonia has a wide selection of the best places to camp, allowing you to temporarily relax and enjoy the pristine life amidst lush greenery. It is also worth mentioning that most of these campsites have facilities such as fire pits, canopies, toilets and garbage cans to ensure that your camping experience is more peaceful and comfortable. So pick your favorite campsite from the recommendations below and make your own holiday plans.

North Estonia

North Estonia is famous for its forests and wildlife. If you want to see spectacular scenery, then the limestone cliffs of Lites will be a treat for you. It is just an hour's drive from Tallinn and a visit here now will give you the chance to admire the hanging waterfalls.

Along Cape Prekali in Rahma National Park, you will come to the northernmost point of Estonia. The trails here are about 1.5 kilometers long, where you can take a leisurely stroll along with the fresh air.

For those who want to combine camping with skiing, Nordic walking, running and cycling, the Akkula sports and recreation area is just right! It is located near Narva and is perfect for family outings and sports enthusiasts. If you love the scenery of the lake, then the Matzmai recreation area is for you. Wake up every morning by a clear and gentle lake, filled with endless greenery, and start a new day in a good mood.

West Estonia

Camping in western Estonia means you can enjoy the scenery of the Baltic Sea coast and the gentle sea breeze. Tuhana beach in northern Saaremaa is one of the best swimming spots on the whole island.

The beach here is about 500 meters wide and there are pine forests and volleyball courts nearby where you can experience a wide variety of camping activities with your partner. If you are more looking for a peaceful and restful place in the forest, head to the RMK Ray Lake Hiking Trail and Camping Site.

In addition to swimming and fishing, you will be able to follow 1.7 km of hiking trails through the varied landscape of the area and observe traces of kingfisher and beaver life.

South Estonia

South Estonia, dotted with lakes, valleys and rolling hills, is one of the most popular places to visit. In South Estonia, you can get closer to nature, leave all your worries behind and just revel in the stunning scenery.

Walking along the banks of the Vohandu River, you will find the campfire site of Karjupel, which provides tables, benches, grills and firewood for campers' picnic needs. Here you can also see the gurgling water and the gorgeous view on the sand.

The Arukula Mountain Recreation Area is ideal for families with small children. There is a children's playground with swings and slides for children to play and let loose. Visitors can also experience Frisbee golf or check out the Struve Geodetic Arc after dinner.
