Brunei Darussalam, or Brunei for short, is located on the northern coast of Borneo in Southeast Asia. The capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan, with an area of 570 square kilometers and a population of 224,100, accounting for 66.2% of the total population, is the most populous administrative region of Brunei and the political, cultural and commercial center of Brunei.
Brunei is rich in oil and natural gas, with oil and gas production and exports accounting for about 67% of GDP, and its GDP per capita was ranked 5th in Asia in 2014, the 2nd in Asia except for the Gulf region, and second only to Singapore. The country is known globally for its affluence and excellent social welfare system.
Tourism is one of the priority areas that Brunei has been strongly developing in recent years. The Brunei government has taken several incentives to attract tourists to Brunei, and the main tourist attractions such as the Kampong Ayer, the Royal Gallery, and the Mosque on the Water are must-see places to learn more about the social aspects of this mysterious country.
The Royal Gallery, which displays the history of Brunei and royal items, aims to let visitors understand the majesty and sanctity of the Bruneian royal family.
The Ali Saifuddin Mosque was built in 1958 and its main building is white except for the golden vault. It is also known as the mosque on the water because it is surrounded by the lake.
The Bolkiah Mosque is also a must-see. It is large in scale, with the main dome and allotment dome made of pure gold, shining with golden light. It is also known as the "Blue Mosque" because of the blue elements incorporated into the entire facade.
Across the river from the Bolkiah Mosque is the Kampong Ayer, which is crisscrossed with stacks, forming a unique and intricate community on the water.
Another selling point of Brunei's tourism industry is the ultra-luxurious six-star Imperial Hotel, with 360 rooms and 63 magnificent suites and villas, described as the most opulent and luxurious resort in Asia.
Entering the hotel lobby is like being in a gilded royal palace. From the giant pillars to the dome, all are inlaid with gold with various exquisite patterns, and the staircase railings are made of 21k gold and opal. The degree of splendor is dazzling, all this is extremely luxurious, rich!
